Facebook CEO Opens Up about His Future Envision Of Developing Facebook Global Community

Facebook Global Community: On 16th February 2017, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO posted one lengthy open letter on the Facebook page described about this vision regarding the future of the company and there he also explained the intention of developing a global community. He mentioned that for the past decade, Facebook is mainly focusing on connecting families and friends. But the next focus of this foundation will be to develop the social infrastructure for the community- to support people, to keep everyone safe, to keep everyone informed and also for civic engagement and inclusion of everything.
In his letter, he led with the idea of using Facebook to build real life support systems by strengthening existing physical communities by assisting people come together both online and offline. Facebook Global Community will organize dinners, hold get-togethers and will also support one another in the daily lives. According to Zuckerberg, this will help people to make the world a more engaged and safer place while strengthening the relationships between different real-world communities of this world. In this context his mentioned the 2015 Nepal Earthquake tragedy after which the users taken to Facebook to raise funds.
Besides, in the letter, he also discussed about building artificial intelligence system to remove propaganda from this platform while preventing the recruitment process for the terrorist organizations. Here he also explained that Facebook mainly aims to prioritize individual liberty and security, while highlighting the positive stance of social network on encryption that is integrated into Messenger and Facebook.
Apart from that, in the present political climate, Zuckerberg also felt seemingly compelled to be more specific about his envisions about the role of Facebook about civic engagement. Here he mentioned how Facebook helped 2 million users register to vote in the US general election in the year 2016 as well as how politicians and candidates have used this platform to engage with the people of their constituents. This also describes the ability of this platform to bring the users together offline.
So, he laid out the idea of building a personalized settings system regarding what contents the users can see in their newsfeeds while proposing the idea of questionnaire to decide how many users see the contents containing profanity, nudity and violence. He also mentioned that Facebook is always committed to do better things, even while it comes to developing a global voting system to offer the users more control and voice. He also said that he is hopeful that this model will offer examples of how the process of collective decision making can work in different aspects of Facebook Global Community.
In his post, he also appreciated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his arrangement of using social media conveniently to reach out millions of people at a time and therefore setting a great example to the Facebook Global Community. According to Zuckerberg, Facebook can be a great tool for the leaders to always stay connected to people and also to keep them informed about different measures, decisions and policies taken by the Government.
